At Eurecat’s Hydrogen Laboratory we have a small, versatile pilot plant that allows us to study the feasibility of applying pyrolysis and gasification to waste recovery.
We offer specialized services to conduct proof-of-concept tests and study different operating conditions for obtaining synthesis gas with a high hydrogen content. We investigate different strategies for hydrogen production, such as the use of catalysts (water-gas shift) or an atmosphere with water vapor. We can study the recovery of different types of waste, such as biomass, sewage sludge, agri-food waste, municipal waste, plastics, and textiles. We can also operate in a fixed bed or fluidized bed, couple a catalytic stage for gas upgrading, and use water vapor as a gasifying agent.
Specific Services:
- Waste characterization and determination of its energy potential.
 - Proof of concept to determine the feasibility of applying thermochemical technologies for waste recovery (polymers, biomass, sludge, etc.).
 - Study of different operating conditions (reactor type, atmosphere, effect of temperature, catalysts, water vapor).
 - Characterization of waste products (gas, oils, and biochar) and application studies.
