Neuroscientific methods for user experience assessment.

The Perception and Cognition Laboratory enables evaluation of psychological processes in the relationship between users and ICTs by means of behavioural and psychophysiological methods and the deployment of psychological methods in non-laboratory contexts tapping the latest technological developments in artificial intelligence, multimodal signals, wearables, IoT, eye-tracking, etc.

We conduct cognitive/emotional analysis of the user experience during consumption and interaction with new information technologies, content presentation, new products and their presentation, new interfaces, etc. in laboratory, virtual reality and real-world environments.

  • Electroencephalography (EEG): Cortical electrical activity
  • Skin conductance (EDA): Skin conductance response (SCR) and galvanic skin response (GSR)
  • Heart rate (HR): Beats per minute (BPM) and heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Electromyography (EMG): Muscle activity, mainly facial
  • Eye-tracking
  • Multimodal measurements: Audiovisual (using cameras, microphones, etc.) and interaction tracking (analysis of activity with mice, keyboards, touch screens).
  • Behavioural measurements: Performance, reaction time, psychophysical measurements, etc.

Physiological, multimodal and eye-tracking measurement equipment.
