The accelerated corrosion test, also known as the salt spray corrosion test, is carried out in a sealed chamber where we spray a water solution with a standard amount and composition of salt to observe the evolution of materials, coatings or devices during the course of exposure defined in accordance with the standard.

This is a fairly aggressive shared test which makes it possible to study the performance of materials that are likely to be exposed to corrosive environments during their normal service or operating conditions.

The most significant standards in which this type of corrosive test is defined are UNE-EN ISO 9227 and ASTM B117 together with automotive, industrial vehicle or proprietary standards.
