The Eurecat Metallic and Ceramic Materials Laboratory‘s metallographic study specialises in the microstructural characterisation of materials in the following phases:
- Optical microscopy and identification and quantification of phases, intermetallic phases, non-metallic inclusions, grain size, coating thicknesses.
- Scanning electron microscopy and identification of constituent elements by X-ray energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS).
- Analysis of crystallographic structure, grain size, grain boundaries and orientation, texture and phase identification by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) coupled to SEM.
- Determination of roughness parameters in 2D and 3D and obtaining typographical images by means of confocal and focal variation microscopy and contact roughness meter.
